Amazing Location

September 2016
Five Stars

“The four of us rented the house for our first vacation in Tuscany. The house was exactly what we had expected – from the owners’ description as well as the reviews. The drive up was a little nerve breaking, but it totally worth it once you get on top of the hill. The view is to die for – absolutely amazing! Luisa and Colin are very friendly hosts. We felt absolute privacy while staying at their guest house. The house was very clean and well equipped. We had everything we needed.

It is about 20 minutes drive from the Leaning Tower in Pisa, 20 minutes drive to the center of Lucca and 30 minutes drive to the beach (marina di Vecchiano).

We felt that we made a very good choice by staying at this property and will definitely recommend it to our friends. It was an amazing vacation and we hope that one day we will go back. Thanks Luisa and Colin!”

Great house in amazing location

August 2016

“This house is simply amazing! It was even better than the pictures. Great pool area with 8 proper sun beds and a small table with chairs for the late night drink. Amazing bbq and pizza oven facilities, both bedrooms were spacious and comfortable beds with a balcony and view over Pisa. Dining table on the front with a great view and with a small roof and curtains around to block sun out during lunch and created a nice cozy feeling in the evening. Luisa and her husband where very helpful and nice in all ways without being intrusive. Great tips for restaurants and places to go, beds made up when we came, a cold bottle of beer/wine prepared when we arrived. Cleaning included and in general just nice people. We are already thinking about going back as it was perfect for us when traveling with couples and friends. We where 5 people (all around 30 years old) during the week but could have been 6 without it being tight with space. Location is great but car is absolutely necessary. 20 min to Pisa town, 30-40 min to the coast, Cinque Terre 2 hours away, under an hour to Florence. So I would recommend it to anyone – families or groups of friends. It suits everyone!”

Idyllic villa with pool close to Pisa

August 2016
“We are a family with four children and had plenty of room to relax. One bedroom has 3 single beds and the downstairs sitting room had a sofa bed. The villa is up on the hillside with stunning views of the area. Our kids shared the pool with the other family in the adjoining property. The pool area is lovely and the pool was a godsend in the summer heat. The owners provided a fan for each room. You can eat inside or al fresco. We even cooked pizza in the wood fired pizza oven with fantastic results. Pisa is 20 mins drive (once you know the way) and Lucca is 20 mins in the other direction where you can hire cycles and cycle wound the walled town. Florence is best reached by train. We even managed to drive our 9 seater van up the hair pin bend driveway up to the property everyday. The owners are just next door if you have any needs or questions. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to the area”.

A real Italian experience

August 2016

“We have just returned from a very relaxing 2 week stay at La Lucertola. Hosts, Luisa, Colin and Max were so welcoming and friendly and were on hand next door at the farmhouse if we needed anything. We found the villa to be very well equipped for all our needs and the fridge was ready stocked with a selection of drinks which was a nice touch. The pool was just bliss to cool off as there was a heatwave during our stay. The villa is nestled upon a steep hill. The road is rather daunting at first, but the trade off is the magnificent view over Pisa and surrounding countryside. We took a few trips out to nearby Pisa and Lucca, and also to Pistoia, Montecatini Terme and Viareggio. It’s also well worth making the trip to Florence by taking the train from nearby San Giuliano Terme (approx 1.5 hrs). Many evenings were spent eating outside on the terrace, cooking on the BBQ (and pizza oven) and watching the sun setting over Pisa. We would definitely recommend you experience the option for “In house dining”. We chose the fish banquet which was simply stunning, freshly caught that morning. Served with wonderful wines, dessert and coffee. A perfect end to a wonderful holiday!”

Heaven in Pugnano

July 2016

Comfortable home with great views – 5 of 5

July 2016
“We stayed at La Lucertola for 2 weeks in July ’16, and wish that we could have stayed longer! The owners, Colin and Luisa, were very helpful and friendly…suggesting local attractions, booking dinner reservations, and providing everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Colin was able to get a reservation for us at a very special restaurant (Villa Bongi) for our anniversary dinner, and even helped us to arrange a cooking class at the house. They were close enough to be helpful, but still gave us all of the privacy we needed. The views from the house, and dinners on the terrace are some of the fondest memories of our trip. The pool was also a great way to stay cool during the hot Tuscan summer. The house is situated between the towns of Lucca and Pisa and is in a great spot to facilitate many day trips. You have to drive up a steep and twisting driveway to get to the house, so make sure your car has a high clearance or you won’t make it up to the top. Once up there, the views from everywhere in the house are spectacular (you can see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the sea, a quaint villa, and sweeping views of the valley). The town of Pugnano is small and there are not many restaurants/markets within walking distance, which is probably the only negative I have about the stay. There are, however, plenty of places that are a short drive away. In short, the house was in a great spot and was very comfortable with very welcoming hosts. I would recommend it for anyone!”

Sehr empfehlenswert – 5 of 5

October 2015
